How To Change Your DNS
Changing Your DNSHosting A DomainSometimes you may want to override the DNS (Domain Name Server) settings on your domain hosting site like say a godaddy account that looks like this one. Or use my resale account like this one http://www.webhosting.techoss.com. You can’t beat the domain prices. This allows your website to be hosted on a GVO server. So no matter where you currently have your domain, you can now use the unlimited hosting account at GVO and never pay for additional hosting again. If this unlimited hosting sounds intriguing, then accept my invitation here By the way , this is one of those it takes 2 minutes to explain and like 30 seconds to do it. So be brave and go for it.
Before you start you will need to know the IP address of the DNS to use – if you don’t know this you’ll need to log into Your GVO account as explained in the short 2 minute video below. |
What happens to the DNS next?Any time you make a DNS (domain name server) change it takes around 24-48 hours to complete. During this propagation time routers all over the world are updating their cache. This causes your site to be up and down randomly during the first 48 hours for different people at different times. Think of dns like a zip code. If you don’t put a zip code on your mail the post office doesn’t know where to send it. Domains are the same way if they don’t have the DNS the internet doesn’t know what server to send your request to.
